Y-Slip is a patented chemical formulation that modifies the molecular structure of mineral floors, creating a slip resistant surface that exceeds dry floor standards in wet conditions.
How is Y-Slip different from other anti-slip floor treatment products?
Y-Slip is not a topical coating. Over the years, attempts have been made to reduce slip/fall accidents by applying epoxies and other substances containing abrasives, or gluing gritty pads to the floor. There are also other products which contain high concentrations of strong acids that remove the glaze from a tile. These out dated measures remove the natural beauty of mineral floors, are unhygienic and very hard to maintain.
Will Y-Slip affect the durability of the floor?
The treatment is microscopic and will not affect the durability of the floor.
Will Y-Slip change the look of the floor surface?
Y-Slip works almost invisibly. Independent tests by a leading international testing laboratory concluded that there is no significant change to the surface appearance or to the texture of the treated floor. Some very high gloss floors may show a small reduction in sheen which is why we always recommend testing a small area for suitability before application.
How much does Y-Slip increase the surface friction?
Depending on the type of mineral surface, the increase in friction of a treated surface when wet ranges from 150% to over 500%. These figures were established during independent testing on a variety of wet surfaces and were measured using the James machine. Most recently, these tests have been confirmed in the field using the English XL Slip Tester.
What types of surfaces can Y-Slip be applied to?
Y-Slip was primarily designed to be applied on ceramic, porcelain and quarry tiles. It also works on other surfaces such as concrete, terrazzo, slate, granite and marble.
Will the grout be affected?
Y-Slip will not affect the integrity or colour of the grout. It will simply clean it
Can a bath or shower tray be treated with Y-Slip?
Porcelain and enamel baths and shower trays respond extremely well to Y-Slip. Fibreglass and other plastic baths or shower trays cannot be treated.
Can Y-slip be applied on a waxed or sealed floor?
Y-Slip only works when applied directly to mineral surfaces. All wax or seal must be completely removed prior to applying the treatment. Y-Slip will only react to a mineral surface.
Can the floor be waxed or sealed after Y-Slip has been applied?
If wax or sealer is applied after treatment, it will negate the process.
How do You maintain a Y-Slip treated floor?
Y-Slip treated floors should be maintained with Actium Maintenance Cleaner. Maintenance is an essential part of a floor safety program. Actium was specially formulated to ensure deep cleaning without leaving a residue, so ensuring the retention of maximum slip resistance which is obviously ideal for a Y-Slip treated floor.
Has Y-Slip been tested?
Y-Slip was rigorously tested by a leading international testing laboratory. Y-Slip is also certified in the USA for slip resistance by Underwriters Laboratories, one of the country's leading testing and certification laboratories.
Where has Y-Slip been used in the field?
Y-Slip has been on the market in the USA for over seven years. In Europe it is used in major airports, hotels and commercial complexes. It is also available in Canada, Mexico, Australia and Singapore. In the USA it is recognised as a market leader in anti-slip treatments with a very loyal and growing client base, which include Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Sports Complexes, Universities, Hotels, Restaurants (including national chains), Food Processing Factories and even the US State Department.
How long before a treated area can be used?
The area can be used immediately after an application.
How long will the treatment fast?
For commercial use, the protection will last between 1 to 3 years depending on the traffic patterns and maintenance.
Is Y-slip safe for the environment?
Y-Slip is safe and environmentally friendly.
